Dr Cemal Eyyubov was born in Zakatala region in Republic of Azerbaijan. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Azerbaijan Technical University in 1961. Between 1995 and 2002 he worked as a member of academic teaching staff and head of the Department in the Department of Civil Engineering of Yozgat Engineering Faculty in Erciyes University-Turkey. Presently he is working as a member of academic teaching staff in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering in Erciyes University in Kayseri-Turkey.Cemal Eyyubov published over 150 scientific papers and seven books on Engineering Seismology, Earthquake Resistant Structures, Steel Structures, Reinforced Concrete Structures and Seismic Behaviour of Soils in Russian, English and Turkish. Dr Mohamed A. ElGawady, Ph. D., is Benavides Associate Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) with 20 years of experience in extreme loading and sustainability. Previously, ElGawady has held positions at Washington State University, University of Auckland, University of South Australia, and Tokyo Institute of Technology. He worked also as a structural engineer for three years. His research addresses the performance of existing structures under man-made and natural hazard. He also develops innovative structural systems and sustainable materials to mitigate extreme events. He is heavily involved in different design and construction codes such as The Masonry Society building code, American Concrete Institute Code, and Transportation Research Board. He co-authored 60 referred papers published in tier one journals and 120 conference papers published in top national and international venues. Dr. ElGawady received funding from different agencies including Missouri DNR, DOT, Federal Highway Administration, University Transportation Center, Mid-America Transportation Center, Transportation Northwest, MoDOT, and WSDOT. His excellent and hard work has been recognized by Missouri S&T through the inaugural Benavides Endowment Award, Joseph H. Senne, Jr. Academy of Civil Engineers Faculty Achievement Award, and Missouri University of Science and Technology Faculty Excellence Award.

Dr. Muhd Fadhil Nuruddin is a professor of Concrete at Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He has had more than 33 years of working experience. He began his career as a Site Engineer at a construction company before joining the academic world in 1985. He is a registered Professional Engineer (PEng) and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM). He is also a Fellow and a Council Member of the Concrete Society of Malaysia (FCSM). He was the President of the Concrete Society of Malaysia between 1997 and 2002. At present he also holds the position as the President of the Malaysian Geopolymer Society.

Dr. Lin’s research is in the field of structural engineering, and focuses on the improvement of the design and performance of buildings, bridges and infrastructure systems under dynamic loads including earthquake and blast loads. In addition to her research expertise, she has extensive practical experience in the design of buildings and bridges. She has received two teaching excellence awards from Concordia University, i.e., the President’s Teaching Excellent Award in 2014, and the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science Teaching Excellence Award in 2015.

Dr Ali Kheyroddin obtained his MS degree from Iran University of Science and Technology, Iran, and his PhD degree from McGill University, Canada at 1996. Currently, he is a professor of Structural Engineering in Civil Engineering Faculty at Semnan University, Iran, and he is also the member of Center of Excellence for Engineering and Management of Civil Infrastructures, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran. He was an invited visiting scholar in the University of Texas at Arlington, USA (2015), and he was the chancellor of the Semnan University for 8 years. His research interests include design of reinforced concrete structures, tall buildings, rehabilitation of existing buildings and design of earthquake resistant buildings. He is the author of ten books, more than 150 ISI and ISC journal papers, and more than 330 conference papers. He has four patents, and he has also supervised numerous PhD and MS degree theses. He is also Editor in Chief of Journal of Rehabilitation in Civil Engineering (JRCE, in English).

Dr Ray Su is associate professor in structural engineering at the University of Hong Kong. His current research interests lie in the development of new theories suitable for seismic assessment and design of concrete and masonry structures, strengthening concrete members using external steel plates, fracture analysis of MEE materials and evaluation of fracture properties of concrete and graphite. Since 2000, he has been awarded 7 research grants on fracture mechanics, seismic behaviour and strengthening of concrete structures from the HK Research Grants Council. He has authored and co-authored more than 110 SCI cited journal papers and 80 conference papers. His research articles have been independently cited over 1600 times in top international journals and have achieved an h-index of 20 (Google Scholar 9/2016). He is an editorial panel member for the Journal of Applied Mathematics, Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Advances in Concrete Construction, among others. He is an honorary secretary of The Structural Discipline, The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and was an honorary Treasurer for The Institution of Structural Engineers (Hong Kong Branch).

Dr SL Chan is one of the contributors for research, development and codification of the new structural design method, namely the second-order P-D-d or Direct Analysis which allows design of structures without assuming effective lengths. The method now appears in many design codes worldwide while he is among the few designing practical steel structures without effective length assumption required in the traditional design method, which include the recently completed single layer steel dome in Macau with one of the world’s longest clear span. He also won awards by professional institutions including the Joint Institution of Structural Engineers U.K. and Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in 2013 and by the Geotechnical Division in 2016 and by his university for technology transfer. His developed program NIDA is used by numerous universities for teaching of structural stability and by consultants for second-order direct analysis and design of steel and composite structures.

Dr Weiwei LIN is a member of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, holding the associate professorship. He has authored and co-authored over 100 academic papers, proceedings, and technical articles dealing with the problems of the structural mechanics and bridge engineering, especially for the steel structures and steel-concrete composite structures. He has co-authored the book entitled: Bridge Engineering: Classifications, Design Loading, and Analysis Methods published by Elsevier. He is a member of several engineering committees, like ASCE, JSCE, IABSE, IABMAS, and IALCCE etc. He is the recipient of IABMAS YOUNG PRIZE of 2014.

Dr Wan Hamidon Wan Badaruzzaman is currently the Chairman of the Smart and Sustainable Township Research Centre (SUTRA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is also a Professor in Structural Engineering at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. His main research areas in terms of publication output are on composite structures especially on Profiled Steel Sheeting Dry Board (PSSDB), a lightweight structural composite system that has been applied as floor, wall and roof panels in buildings; infilled cold formed steel tube structural elements strengthened with CFRP sheets; and composite plate girders. He has published over 200 journal and conference articles. Prof. Wan has won numerous research awards including the Winner of CIDB Construction Innovation and Design Award (2001), Gold Medal for 26th International Exhibition of Inventions, Geneva, Institute for Industrial Patents of Switzerland (Association Suisse des Conseilsen Propriete Indust) (1998), International National Inventor’s Award, MOSTE (1998), Gold Medal for the Best Overall Invention, MINDEX/INNOTEX Design & Invention Exhibition, WIPO (1997), and Design & Invention Exhibition, MOSTE, SIRIM, and MINDS (1997). Dr Sharadkumar Purohit is a Professor at Civil Engineering Department, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad-India. He holds bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and has earned M. Tech. (Structural Engineering) & Ph. D. degrees from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITBombay), Mumbai-India. Dr Fadzli Mohamed Nazri is currently an Associate Professor in Structural and Earthquake Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He received the PhD degree in civil engineering from the University of Bristol, in 2012. His areas of expertise include earthquake engineering, structural analysis and numerical simulation/modelling. He has published four books in Earthquake Engineering Mathematics and more than 30 journal articles.

Dr Chung-Che Chou received the Ph.D. degree in structural engineering from the University of California, San Diego, Calif, USA, in 2001. After a two-year stay as an Assistant Project Scientist working for the New San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge project at the University of California, San Diego, he joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Chiao Tung University, Hsin Chu, Taiwan. He joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Taiwan University, where he became a Full Professor in 2011. Currently, Professor Chou serves as the Director of the Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (CEER), National Taiwan University, Taiwan. He is an Editorial Panel Member for the International Journal of Earthquakes and Structures, NZSEE Bulletin (New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering Inc.), and the Scientific World Journal, among others. He is also a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Taiwan Institution of Engineers. His research has been centered on the seismic testing, analysis, and design of civil engineering structures, especially for steel and posttensioned self-centering structures.

Dr Sunday Nwaubani is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in South Africa. Prior to his current appointment, Professor Nwaubani had been a Senior Lecturer in the United Kingdom for over 20 years at Anglia Ruskin University and the University of Surrey. He is a Senior Fellow of the prestigious UK Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). His main research areas, in terms of publication output, are concerned with the properties, durability and microstructure of construction materials, structural concrete, blended cements, clinckerless cements, polymer-concrete, use of waste materials in construction, sustainability, corrosion and corrosion mitigation issues. His works in these areas of research is substantiated by a large body of journal publications, a book on Construction Materials, as well as, numerous book chapters. He currently serves as international technical committee member for three other reputable international Conferences.

Dr. Meng-Hao Tsai received his PhD degree in civil engineering from the National Taiwan University in 1998. After graduation, he had worked as a short-term post-doctoral research associate in the State University of New York at Buffalo and Tokyo Institute of Technology. He entered the Structural Engineering Sector (II) of Taiwan CECI Engineering Consutant Inc. in 2002. After two years industrial experience, he joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology in 2004.

Norazura Muhamad Bunnori (PhD) has been involved in Acoustic Emission (AE)technique since 2004 while she was pursuing her PhD study at Cardiff University, Wales, UK. She was graduated from Cardiff University in 2008 and continues with the AE research area in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. Currently she is working as a Senior Lecturer at School of Civil Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) since 2009. The research covered several topics of AE applications and analysis (quantitative and qualitive). The aim is to continue the AE study especially in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) research area and to discover more in this potential area. The passion towards AE is deep and she believes that there are a great number of information can be studied and discovered with this tool.

Dr Mohd Haziman Wan Ibrahim is an Associate Professor and Deputy Dean (Academic and International) in the Department of Sructural and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. His research expertise is in the Recycling Waste Materials, Construction Materials, Brickwork and Concrete Technology. Dr. Zahiraniza Mustaffa is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) for nearly 15 years. She obtained her PhD majoring in Pipeline Reliability from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, Master of Science in Water Resources Engineering, from the University of Alberta, Canada and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Dr. Zahira specializes in the field of pipeline engineering as well as hydraulic engineering, covering the aspects of urban hydraulics and probabilistic structural designs. Her research capability in the pipeline engineering field is portrayed through the cumulative research grant values of RM 2 mil. secured from various international, national and consultancy resources. She has also developed a software and training module for PETRONAS on the reliability assessment of corroded pipelines using probabilistic approaches. Dr. Zahira received a prestigious research grant from the Schlumberger Foundation and currently an Ambassador for the Faculty for the Future of the foundation in promoting women into science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. Recently, the Sumitomo Foundation, Japan research grant was awarded to her which aims at comparing and strengthening women involvement in STEM university research between the Malaysian and Japanese.

Dr David Chua Kim Huat is a registered professional engineer in Singapore and is currently a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He is also Vice Dean at the Faculty of Engineering. He obtained his PhD degree in 1989 from University of California, Berkeley, USA, majoring in construction management. His research interests in the recent years have been in lean construction, computer integrated and IT-based construction management, BIM, construction simulation, risk management and construction safety. He has written over 180 technical publications, editor for two books, and contributed a chapter to two books. He is appointed member of BCA’s 2nd International Panel of Experts on BIM.

Dr Chao-Hsun Huang is an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering at National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan. His main research areas include reinforced concrete and masonry structures, seismic assessment and retrofit, and dynamic behaviors of building and other structures. His most current research is mainly on seismic retrofit of concrete buildings using combination of column jacketing and supplemental beams.

Dr N Umamaheswari is currently working as Associate Professor in Department of Civil Engineering at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in INDIA. Dr. Atorod Azizinamini, P.E., Vasant H. Surti Professor of Civil Engineering, Director of Accelerated Bridge Construction University Transportation Center and Chairperson of Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Florida International University, in Miami, Florida. Dr. Azizinamini was a Distinguished College of Engineering Professor and Director of National Bridge Research Organization at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, before joining FIU in Jan 2011. His research focuses in bridge engineering and has carried out more than $40M in research as a Principal Investigator. He has developed several bridge engineering products and systems that are being used nationally and internationally. Among the bridge systems that he has developed are folded plate steel bridge system, composite systems and simple for dead and continuous for live load system for steel bridges. Under SHRP2 R19A he led the development of the first and most comprehensive document and devoted to service life design of concrete and steel bridges. He has published more than 200 technical publications related to structures and bridge engineering. He routinely gives keynote talks at major national and international bridge engineering conferences. He has received a number of national awards, including: 2015 White House Champion of Change: Transportation Innovator, American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Special Achievement Award and several bridge innovation awards. He has organized and chaired numerous National Bridge Engineering Conferences and has taught more than 40 short courses to consultants and practitioners across the country on design of bridges.

Dr. QIAN Xudong is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is currently the Director at Centre for Advanced Materials and Structures in NUS, and the co-director for NUS-JTC industrial infrastructure innovation centre. Prof Qian’s research interest focuses on experimental fracture mechanics, fracture and fatigue assessment for steel/offshore structures, welded tubular connections, steel-concrete-steel composite structures, brittle fracture assessment for Arctic applications, polymer composite materials for deep-water applications, structural resilience under extreme and impact loadings. He has published more than 120 papers in international journals and conferences. Prof Qian has been serving as members in different Technical Committees for the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress. He is currently also a member of the ASTM E-08 committee on fatigue and fracture.

Dr Konstantinos Tsavdaridis is Associate Professor and the Director of the research group focuses on steel and steel-concrete composite structures in the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Leeds. He holds a MEng from City, University of London and an MSc (DIC) from Imperial College London. His research expertise is in structural product development that embraces resilience and sustainability; particularly the development of innovative seismic-resistant structural members and systems, and testing large and full scale specimens. He has published some 100 scientific articles, journal publications, technical reports and international conference papers. Dr Tsavdaridis is also an inventor and he has filed a few patents on resilient, lightweight, and sustainable structural systems. He is an active member of the Working Group 8 of the International Association of Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) and of the Task Groups 7.6 and 7.7 of the International Federation of Structural Concrete (fib). He is a Chartered Civil Engineer in Greece and the UK (CEng), a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE), a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (MASCE), and a Registered Civil Engineer in Europe recognised by the European Federation of National Engineering Associations, FEANI (EUR ING).

Dr Lin Shaopei, professor, Civil Engineering Department in Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Fellow and Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE, UK) and CEO of ICE China Education and Training Center. He has been the chair of AI application panel, Chinese Society of Civil Engineering. His award includes the Government Special Allowance of the State Council PRC in 1991, the Lifetime Achievement Award of PMI (China) in 2012, the Excellent Service Award of ICE in 2015 and the Service Achievement Award of PMI GAC in 2016.He has had a long-term experience in engineering research during past 60 years and had been research professor in Cornell University, USA and Hong Kong University and published Eight books and nearly 200 papers in domestic and international Journals, conferences covering a variety of disciplines, including engineering, economics, system engineering, computational mechanics, IT & computer application, fuzzy mathematics and artificial intelligence applications, etc.

Biljana Šćepanović, Dr-Ing, associate professor of the University of Montenegro, has focused her research work, as well as engineering expertise in the domain of steel, timber and aluminium structures. She has reach experience in modelling of patch loaded steel girders, with special emphasis on the case of eccentric patch load and its analysis by both experimental and numerical methods. Prof. Šćepanović realised most of her research work at the University of Montenegro, where she also has successful teaching career, and at the University of Granada. Her teaching and research experience have been enriched by several study visits at European universities, as a visiting researcher and/or teacher.

Dr. Yoshiaki Goto is a project Professor of Next Generation Seismic Design Laboratory and an Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Nagoya, Japan. He received his doctor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Tokyo. He is a fellow of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) and served as a Director of academic affairs. He now chairs JSCE and JSSC committees for seismic design specifications for steel & composite structures. He has published more than 250 technical papers. He received JSCE Awards such as Award for outstanding research achievement (2010), Award for outstanding research publication (2009) and Tanaka Award for outstanding research publication in bridge engineering(1997).

Dr Lau is currently Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Science, Curtin University Malaysia campus. Professor Lau is a long serving member of Curtin University Malaysia campus community where he has accumulated over 14 years of teaching experience at Curtin University in the field of Civil Engineering. Prior to joining Curtin University Malaysia Campus, he worked in the consulting industry Professor Lau received the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering and PhD degrees from Oxford Brookes University, UK. He is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and also Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia. Dr Xuechun Liu is a vice-professor in the Beijing Engineering Research Center of High-rise and Large-span Pre-stressed Steel Structures at the Beijing University of Technology. National First Class Registered Structural Engineer of China. He received his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the Beijing University of Technology. Dr Qiu-Sheng Li is Chair Professor of Civil Engineering and the director of Architecture and Civil Engineering Research Centre at City University of Hong Kong. He graduated from Shanghai Jiao-Tong University with BEng in 1984 and from Harbin Institute of Technology with MEng in 1987. He obtained his PhD from Monash University in 1996 and his PhD thesis was awarded Professor K.H. Hunt Medal. His research areas include wind engineering, structural dynamics and computational mechanics. He has published four books and over 280 refereed international journal papers. Prof. Li has received several awards for his academic contributions including National Natural Science Foundation of Chinese Outstanding Oversea Scientist Award in 2004 and The First Class Award of the Scientific and Technological Progress from the Ministry of Education of China in 2010. He was appointed as Chang Jiang Chair Professor by the State Education Ministry of China in 2007 and National Expert of the 1000 Talent Scheme by the Ministry of Human Resources of China in 2013. In particular, Prof. Li is the recipient of the 2016 Jack E. Cermak Medal from the American Society of Civil Engineers, the highest honour in wind engineering, in recognition of “his many contributions to wind engineering that range from fundamental to applied research”. Ezzeldin Yazeed Sayed-Ahmed is a Professor and the Graduate Program Director in the Department of Construction Engineering, the American University in Cairo. Dr Masoud Motavalli is a Professor at Empa, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Professor at the University of Tehran, lecturer at ETH-Zurich and Adjunct Professor at Monash University in Australia. Dr James Lim has been a full-time academic since 2007, having previously worked at University of Strathclyde and Queen's University, Belfast, before joining University of Auckland in 2014. Prior to this, I worked at the Steel Construction Institute (SCI), the UK equivalent of HERA. Dr Walid Tizani is an associate professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, The University of Nottingham. Mostafa Fahmi Hassanein has completed his Ph.D at the age of 31 years from Tanta University, Egypt. He is currently an "Associate Professor of Structural Engineering" at the Department of Structural Engineering at the same University. He has published 27 papers in international journals, at which all were published by Elsevier (Engineering Structures, Thin-Walled Structures and Journal of Constructional Steel Research), except one which was published in the Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings. He has published 6 international journal papers where he is the sole author. In 17 international journal papers, he was the first author of the research teams that included international collaborations. In the remaining 4 international journal papers, he was working as a co-author with a research team. His research works show his ability to collaborate with researchers from different disciplines and countries. He has worked with Nuno Silvestre (Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal) in the lateral-distortional buckling of steel beams and the results were published in two international papers. Then, he has collaborated with Qing Quan (Stephen) Liang (Victoria University, Australia) in three international papers to examine the axial compressive behaviour of thee different composite columns all with outer stainless steel tubes. Recently, he has investigated the double-skin composite columns by the collaboration of Leroy Gardner (Imperial Collage, UK). Other collaboration is currently under preparation with a research team from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. All of these scholars had different backgrounds. He has served as a reviewer for different reputed journals (i.e. the Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, Thin-Walled Structures, The Arabian Journal of Science and Engineering, Engineering Structures, Computers and Concrete, An international Journal, Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineering, Steel and Composite Structures, An International Journal and the Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures, all published by Elsevier and other reputed publishers) and conferences (ARMA 2014) and proposal research grants (National Science Centre, Poland). He has also invited to the 8th European Solid Mechanics Conference (ESMC), Graz, Austria, 2012 as an "Invited Speaker". Recently, he has awarded the "State's Incentive Award in the Engineering Sciences" in 2015 from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt. He has passed several training courses given by the National Center for Faculty and Leadership Development (NCFLD) "International Board of Certified Trainers (IBCT) Middle East & North African Division" such as: Research Ethics, Time and Meeting Management, University Administration, The Credit Hour Systems, Effective Presentation Skills, Conference Organisation Program, Students' Evaluation, just as examples. Also, he has participated in a doctoral steel course in Sweden, as a scholarship from Lulea University of technology. In addition, he has attended, as a grant, a workshop in Egypt entitled "Building early career researcher's capacity to investigate, evaluate and disseminated the impact of technology on learning and teaching in schools, colleges and universities" from 9-13 February 2015. More recently, he has participated in the DAAD Alumni Conference titled "Towards a Knowledge Society? Strategies and Challenges for the 21st Century" on the 9th and 10th of October 2015 in Alexandria, Egypt as a grant from The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

His research is focused on the analysis and design of steel and composite structures. His current research in these areas aims at improving the Design Codes and Standards that are currently used worldwide (e.g. EC3, EC4, AISC, AASHTO and AS 4100), to design more effective structures with minimised initial material costs and life-cycle costs.

Dr. Amr Sweedan is the Chairman of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the UAE University. Before joining the UAE University in 2005, Dr. Sweedan held the position of a Senior Engineer at the head office of Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. (RWDI), Consulting Engineers and Scientists, in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Sweedan earned his Ph.D. in Structural Dynamics from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
